About

Hi, I am Nazneen!

Broadwithoutborders.com is my blog. My favorite topic to write about is travel. My publications on this and other websites are on my Publications page.

I am an Indian national and a lawful permanent resident of the United States. While I was on a work Visa in the States, I was required to be employed full-time for an engineering position. My vacation had to be around my employments and the time-off they offered.

My goal is to share my travel experiences candidly and share a real sense of being there.

A bit about me:

Places I have lived in:

  • Lived in Saudi Arabia as a toddler
  • I grew up in Mumbai, India
  • Went to grad school in Logan, Utah
  • I lived in the Greater Seattle Area for 10 years
  • I live in various cities of North Carolina for about 4 years
  • I am currently, a New Yorker

Places I have traveled to:

  • 24 States of the US
  • Canada
  • Various States of India
  • UK
  • Ireland
  • Brazil
  • Japan
  • Indonesia
  • Luxembourg
  • Greece
  • Germany
  • Norway

And miles to go before I sleep… I’d love a comment on my blogs, a like or a suggestion about anything you’d like me to write about. Feel free to leave me a message.

  1. Hey Nazneen!

Just came across your blog describing your trip to Kolkata, not sure about the time of the year you visitied though, the post seems to be wriiten around Jan 18, anyways a friend of mine is planning a solo trip to the city, as she would be there with her family (but she wants to travel solo during odd days) for a couple of weddings on 19th and 21st of April, 2018. She is coming from Gandhinagar, Gujarat – so practically unaware about the safety prospects of the place.

Would you please guide her for her brief visit to the city – I adore your travel experience, and watching you leading your father during your trip is something I value a lot!

She is leaving tommorow (April 18th, 2018).

    ;p

    1. Thanks a lot! Yes I traveled Jan 3rd through 13th. I would recommend staying at a hotel in park street, dressing modestly and not going out after dark. It’s great to know someone in Kolkata. I have an fb group ‘Indian female solo travelers and bloggers’. If she joins, may be she can connect with a local. I would keep my phone charged at all times, download offline maps and keep track of my location at all times. I’d keep emergency numbers to call in case I feel I am being taken off. There is also a group called ‘Indian woman travel group’ on fb. I recommend finding company essentially:) Wish her a safe and memorable trip!

      1. Thanks for a promt responsive turnover from your end, its really well appreciated, Sorry for the trouble as she would be traveling with her BF now, and I guess there isn’t much to worry about 😉

Anyways my GF is planning to travel to Rishikesh from Dehradun (she is not a local from North – lives in Gujarat) these weekends (21-22 April, 2018), she would be alone too, I guess your page suggestion will certainly assist her 🙂

        Thanks again !
